Muddy River Opera Company was founded in 1989 by Mary Anne Scott and Mary Jane McCloskey.

Our mission is to provide at least one mainstage opera and one children’s opera per year in the tristate area.

Our vision is to bring together professional artists working in the performance world, excellent regional musicians, and dedicated students to join forces to offer the entire community the very finest in operatic experience.

Our purpose is to preserve and perpetuate the fine art of opera, develop opera appreciation in the community among all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds, and help provide a springboard for young performers to further their careers onto the professional stage.
